The psalmist establishes that the Lord is very great and clothed with splendor and majesty. Not just great. Very great!

Dusty frames, wind-swept grass, or feeble as frail, the Lord does not remove his steadfast love. Stand firm upon this promise. His lavish love is from everlasting to everlasting.

In those times of need we fall before the Lord and beseech him to hear our desperate cries. We plead that he doesn’t turn his face away.

I had to preach the gospel to myself. I had to remind myself to walk by faith and not by sight. I understand David’s assertion here. I longed to remove any perverse ways from my heart.

We have received a message—news of the gift of salvation—and we serve out of gladness of heart. We are not forced to serve the Lord.

Psalm 99 delivers the message that the Lord reigns and instructs that we should tremble in response. It also delivers the message that God is enthroned and instructs that the earth should quake in response.

We cannot squelch the song that rises up within our hearts. We sing a new song!

A scene of powerful reign is painted by the psalmist. God is framed by clouds and thick darkness. Mystery. However, under his throne is a firm foundation built of righteousness and justice.

Salvation—and the peace that surpasses and overcomes fear brought on by brokenness—inspires a new song in your heart that overflows from your lips.

We are his sheep, and we bow down before him. We kneel in adoration. He is our Lord, our Maker. He stakes a claim on our lives.
